Welcoming change marks the genesis of one's evolution. And through music, Lyfe Jennings has willingly opened his heart and soul to nurture his personal and artistic growth. As a single father of two, the Ohio native continues to build his brand as owner of an independent label, author of a children's book series as well as a furniture and jewlery collection. Chester “Lyfe” Jennings isn't the guy you would have voted “Most Likely to Succeed". He attended Start High School, but never graduated because he ended up in prison on an arson charge. Ten years of incarceration helped him find his voice. “When I was in jail, I did a lot of soul searching. I set myself some goals and that translated to music,” said 29-year-old Lyfe during a phone interview. “When I came home, music was something I wanted to pursue.” CLICK HERE to read the rest.

JSONLINE.COM REVIEW
Everything about Lyfe Jennings' third album suggests a departure from his past hardscrabble soul, from the title to the guests (including T.I., Snoop Dogg and Wyclef) to the fact that a track called "Cops Up" is really a romantic 411.
There's no denying that "Lyfe Change" finds the Ohio ex-convict spending more time on the sunny side of the street - epitomized by "Never Never Land," a ballad that feels like a presumptive rebuttal to critics of Jennings' newly positive outlook - yet fans of his first two outings have little to worry about. DEMOCRATandCHRONICLE.com REVIEW
There's nothing silky about Lyfe Jennings' voice. It's gritty. And that voice, with the strum of his guitar and the thump of percussion, combine to create some really worthwhile music on this, his third CD. In "Warriors," we hear about a hard-knock life as he sings, "I was raised in the projects with no running water/never really knew my father/sister was a dancer/granddad died of cancer." And "It's Real" is a priceless ode to practicing safe sex as Jennings warns, "AIDS is real/don't care how you feel/we already know it kills." There's too much good music on this CD to single them all out. — Sheila Rayam CLICK HERE to read more...
PRNEWSWIRE.COM REVIEW
Lyfe Change, the new album from Lyfe Jennings, marks the artist's second straight #1 on Billboard's Top R&B Albums Chart, a feat he first accomplished in August 2006 with the release of his sophomore collection, The Phoenix. Lyfe's latest album includes the hit "Never Never Land," currently at #14 as it climbs the Urban Adult Chart, as well as "Brand New" featuring T.I., and the beautiful love song "Midnight Train," guaranteed to pierce anyone's heart.
In Billboard's review of Lyfe Change, music critic Mariel Concepcion wrote: "Like its two predecessors, Lyfe Change features his staple heartfelt love songs ('Never, Never Land,' 'Midnight Train') and uplifting tracks ('Warriors'). The big...changes this time around are the production tactics... . Still, songs like 'It's Real,' where Jennings rhymes over thumping drums like his 2007 hit 'S.E.X.,' remind us why his sound didn't need much tweaking in the first place." CLICK HERE to read more...
USATODAY.com ALBUM REVIEW
The gruff-voiced singer/songwriter continues to grow on his third album, which in many ways deals with growing up and growing wiser. Jennings, who drops the between-song narrations of previous albums, talks a great deal about finding and maintaining mature relationships and taking responsibility for your actions. With a few exceptions, Jennings avoids clichés in a genre that’s full of them. That is a change for the better. — Jones

PHILLY.com ALBUM REVIEW
MORE URBAN VIBES: Hip-hop and soul styles also mix well in the third set from singer/songwriter producer Lyfe Jennings, "Lyfe Change" (Columbia, B+). On songs like "Keep on Dreaming" (lifting a tune fragment from Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner") and the Peter Pan-invoking "Never Never Land," this Toledo, Ohio, native issues balmy Lyfe lessons that even a Bob Marley could endorse. Elsewhere, the album's "Brand New" borrows extensively from the Gamble-Huff hit "You Make Me Feel Brand New" and also quotes the reggae hit "I Can See Clearly Now."

InSiteAtlanta.com ALBUM REVIEW
The pen is mightier with soulful chords...He doesn’t kick it in the club with Paris Hilton. He doesn’t dance across the stage like Chris Brown. Lyfe Jennings doesn’t do a lot of the stuff many so-called R&B acts do today. Thankfully, he does do what Sam Cooke, Al Green and Lionel Richie did so well in their day—he sings his damn heart out! Lyfe Change is the logical next chapter in the soulful crooner’s diary that started with Lyfe 268-192 and The Phoenix. Blanketed by some of the crispest production urban radio has heard in some time, songs like the first single “Cops Up” and “Midnight Train” are consistently catchy without the hint of corny. It’s no matter if he’s telling love detractors they live in “Never Never Land” or being honest about safe sex with “It’s Real” and “Wild, Wild, Wild,” Lyfe keeps it 100%. But like the great ones before him, he also keeps it melodic. (B+) --DeMarco Williams
